ABOUT MRS. ESSI AVELLAN ******

Explore the essence of the Blanc de Beaupin Champagne category with Essi Avellan - Champagne category specialist and Master of Wine.

Finland's first Master of WIne, Essi Avelan, is a renowned champagne and sparkling wine specialist. She is the author of several wine books and has revised and expanded the 3rd and 4th editions of Tom Stevenson's award-winning Christie's World Encyclopedia of Champagne and Sparkling Wine. For her MW studies, she wrote her dissertation on single-vineyard champagne and won both the Lily Bollinger Medal for Best Taster and the Tim Derue Memorial Award for Best Overall Student. Essie also holds a Master's degree in Business Administration.

Esi Avelan is the organizer of the annual event Grand Champagne Helsinki, but also a famous wine judge. In addition to being responsible for the Club Oenologique Champagne report and part of the tasting panels for The World of Fine Wine, she is the panel chair of the International Wine and Spirit Competition (IWSC) and a jury member of the World Championship of Champagne and Sparkling Wine ( CSWWC).

Essie Avellan was awarded the Chevalier l’Ordre du Mérite Agricole by the French Minister of Agriculture. She was also awarded the titles of Dame Officer of the Ordre de Coteaux de Champagne and Commandeur of the Commanderie de Bordeaux.

Patrick Dieterich of Azienda Vitivinicola Zenato will present several vintages from the Queen / Lugano Reserve/ and the King / Amarone Reserve/ of the Zenato Cellar Chessboard. Patrick Dieterich has been working for more than 25 years in close relation with Alberto Zenato and has been looking after the European markets for years. With his many years of experience in the world of Italian wines, he will not only comment on the various vintages of the tasted wines, but will surely surprise with interesting stories from the side of love, passion and good wine. ABOUT JAVIER MORO 

Javier Moro Espinosa is the third generation of the Moro family and has been the commercial director of the winery since 1989. He is one of the main architects of the growth and expansion of the brand, present in more than 70 countries and on every continent.

The history of Bodegas Emilio Moro goes back four generations. The founder, Emilio Moro, was born in 1891 in Pesquera de Duero, a town in the province of Valladolid, where his son Emilio was also born in 1932. Hard work in the vineyards built their passion, vintage after vintage along the banks of the Douro River. Emilio Moro imparted all his love of wine to his son, who in turn passed it on to the third and fourth generations of the family, consolidating a company that became a leader in Spanish winemaking.
